Yesterday my baby boy turned 10. Ten!!! How did that happen?! How is it that time has gone by so quickly? And when will it slow back down!?
10 years?! Ten years ago I brought home this tiny baby (who I thought was so big) and started the journey of motherhood.
Ten years ago I started learning what makes this kid tick. What makes him who he is. I have gotten to be the one who watched his personality take flight, to watch him learn and discover new things.
And in those ten years, I have learned more about me than I can ever blog about. And most of it I am still learning every day... patience, humility, how to hold my own tongue...
Nine years ago I was celebrating my little 1 year old that I had kept alive for a year! Who would have thought?! It was such a fun party with live ducks and friends who love my little man.
Eight years ago T was into tractors, so we had a huge John Deere/farm party. It had been a hard year for both me and T. A party to celebrate my little love was just what we both needed.
Seven years ago my little Thomas the train and Mickey Mouse loving boy turned 3. We did so many fun things that year. Thomas started preschool and did great!
Six years ago I celebrated 4 years of Thomas. He really started to look like a young man this year. Gone was my baby boy and in his place stood a kid who loved life. Because of his love for all things trains, Thomas had his party at Sandy Lake park (where there is a train ride) and instead of presents he raised money to help move the train museum from Fair Park up to Frisco. The train museum made such a big deal over his donation!
Then my baby turned 5. It was a big year! He started kindergarten, was a ring bearer in his Aunt Leanne's wedding, and so many other things. He still loved all things trains and could tell you more about them than you could even want or need to know!
Three years ago I had a 6 year old! No way I was old enough for that one! This is the year I really started to see his kind and gentle heart began to show through. He always seemed to befriend the kids in his class that were more left out by everyone else. Kinder was a hard year, but he continued to love school and worked hard to show everyone just how smart he truly is!
Once more trains was the main interest, although this is the year he started to branch out a little more in his interests. He started to love other things such as airplanes and cowboys too!
Two years ago my cute cowboy turned eight. Eight was great! He loved school and excelled! He loved trains and boots. He loved people and he loved to read. There are some years parenting is easier than others and this was one of those years.
Nine... I could hardly believe we had made it to 9! Such a smart and fun loving kid. He switched school like a pro. He played baseball, and enjoyed Cub Scouts. He made new friends and continued to play with old ones. And oh how he rocked those glasses! With those glasses came compliments of looking like his Great Grandfather (my Grandjack that passed away when I was 4). What an amazing compliment!! He finally grew from a huge love a trains and became interested in airplanes, WWII, and all things military.
And now he is 10! Oh I cannot wait to see what 10 holds in store!
