August 2010

August started with a weekend trip to Broken Bow, Oklahoma. It was a mini vacation, and it was a blast (despite the heat!). The kids had fun playing in the swimming hole and in the river. We also got to ride on a small train. This of course was Thomas' favorite part! I had fun sitting on the bank most of the time, but I did put my good foot in the river at one point!.

I took Thomas to see Toy Story 3 with my friend Cindy. I wish I had taken a picture! Thomas LOVED the movie! Thomas also got to go to the pediatric dentist in August because he has 4 cavities. They are in his back 4 molars and are due to an enamel defect. He was not so fond of the dentist, but he did like getting to wear sunglasses!

On August 7, I had a girls night with my sister and dear friend Danielle. We had a pizza night....cheese, pepperoni, and Hawaiian pizza, as well as dessert pizza after!

Thomas spent the end of the summer brushing up on his swimming skills! He has now gotten to the point where he can jump in front the side and then swim to someone. He can also swim under water, but he keeps his eyes closed the entire time and won't wear goggles....what to do!? I tried to upload a video from my phone, but it didn't work....maybe if I can figure it out later!

BIG news of the summer...I started a new job! I am now the school nurse at an elementary school in the Colony! I LOVE LOVE LOVE it! Thomas got to spend an entire week with his grandparents while I learned (some of) the ins and outs of school nursing. I can't tell you how much of a "God thing" getting this job was, so just know that HE was totally in control!

Thomas started Kindergarten at his preschool on August 23. Like a good momma, I have no pictures (it was my first day of school too!). I also have no pics from the second, third, or fourth day of school (you getting the picture here...no pun intended)! I hate that I don't have a picture, but am calming myself down with the fact that he still has public kinder next year!

The evening of Aug 23 (yes, the first day of school), mom, Danielle, and I loaded up with Thomas and went to see the Texas Rangers play. Yes, we picked the evening when the temp was 107 when we got there and only down to 100 when we left (at 9:30ish!)! It was SOOO hot. However, we ran into my friend Mikey and his brother, Tony, at the ballpark, so that was fun! Thomas had a blast and will now tell you that Michael (Young) is his favorite player!

And, finally, we had a playdate at Hawaiian Falls with Thomas' friends from school. They had a blast going down the slides, floating in the lazy river, and playing in the wave pool! I (of course) ended up a "little" red, but no pics of that (darn, right!).

Other than these things, I just enjoyed getting to have a lazy schedule this summer and spending time with Thomas! He is such a little man!
