Saturday, June 30

Today we went to a village named Barasat to hold yet another clinic.  We were blessed to have another American who lives in the city come with us to the clinic.  She stepped right in and helped our team with clinic.  This time Christy shared her testimony with the crowd prior to seeing any patients.  Then Bill and I spent the next several hours treating while Christy and Mary ran the "Mary-Christ-Mess" pharmacy.  The rest of the team was able to interact with the villagers and go on a prayer walk.  During the clinic, one of the villagers climbed a tree and cut down coconuts.  Then another villager cut the coconuts open so we could drink the coconut water.  From what I hear, it was very good!

On the way back to town, we stopped and ate a little restaurant called Babumoshai.  Although several on our team thought the food was spicy, I thought it was delicious!

After clinic, the girls split into two groups and went to separate parts of the city to hold henna parties.  Mary and Ellen went to one house and held a small party at a flat (the couple that owned the flat attend the Sunday morning house church service).  While they were there, they were able to minister to the husband's sister and niece.

Cheryl, Christy, and I went to Victor's church to conduct our henna party.  There were 5 young ladies present.  They greeted us with a formal welcome, throwing flower petals on us and presenting us with roses and hand made floral arrangements.  Cheryl was able to share the story of the Woman at the Well (John 4).  Then I shared my testimony using the story of Peter walking on water to Jesus (Matthew 14:27-31).  One of the women present then opened up about her home situation and I was able to talk and pray with her in detail about things in her life.  It was definitely a "God thing" that I was there that night.

Being showered with flower petal (above) and roses (below) to show we were honored guests.

We are taking it easy in the morning and resting before we head back to New Hope Church to help with Sunday School and the evening worship service.  I am going to be sharing my testimony during the service tomorrow night.  While just a week ago I was nervous to be going a house church with people I didn't know, I can't tell you how excited I now am to be able to return and worship with the friends we have made during the week!
